Ovation Productions is one of Ottawa's only theatre companies dedicated exclusively to producing professional musical theatre. Founded in 2018 and women-owned, we bring Broadway-calibre productions to intimate Ottawa venues — creating an immersive experience that larger houses simply can't offer. Every production is built to a professional standard. That has been our commitment from the beginning.

We are selective about everything — our venues, our creative teams, our repertoire. The result speaks for itself: critically acclaimed productions performed by some of Canada's finest musical theatre artists, right here in Ottawa.

A Note from the Artistic Producer

Hello and welcome.

My name is Tanya and I am the Founder, Artistic Producer, and Executive Director of Ovation Productions.

My path to theatre was anything but straight. I studied Medical Sciences before completing a Master of Science in Biochemistry, followed by a Bachelor of Education. I've been teaching as an Ontario Certified Teacher for over fifteen years. Eventually I found my way back to the stage after attending the Musical Theatre program at Sheridan College, and most recently completing a Master of Arts degree specializing in Theatre Theory and Dramaturgy. Every step I have taken has taught me something I use every single day in my work.

I've performed on professional stages across Ontario and have been fortunate to have participated in workshops and cast recordings for new Canadian works. I now channel all of my experiences into building something I believe Ottawa has always deserved: a professional musical theatre company that takes this city and its artists seriously.

My role at Ovation involves every aspect of what we do. I oversee all programming, lead our productions from concept to curtain call, and work closely with designers, directors, and performers to ensure we're delivering something genuinely excellent every time.

I am also the proud mother of two, who remind me daily why it matters to never give up on the things you love.

Ottawa loses so much of its talent to Toronto and beyond, not because those artists don't want to stay, but because professional, paid musical theatre opportunities here are scarce. Ovation exists to change that. We believe this city is worth investing in.
